SUMMARY:Waldorf Weekend: Foundations and Fundamentals of Waldorf Education from Early Childhood through High School
DESCRIPTION:Open to students of education and especially relevant for new and prospective Waldorf community members (teachers\, parents and grandparents\, staffers\, and board members) \nOur lively and informative Waldorf Weekend workshop is designed to provide an experiential survey of the basis and basics of Waldorf education. In addition to exploring the Waldorf curriculum across the grades\, your workshop includes a discussion of Rudolf Steiner’s insights in human development and a look into the anthroposophical underpinnings of the Waldorf impulse. You’ll enjoy hands-on artistic activities and there’ll be plenty of time for questions and answers. Our Waldorf Weekends are a most memorable—and fun!—learning experience. \nThis workshop takes place in person.  \n  \nPresenters \nMeggan Gill ’10 is Sunbridge’s director of education and organizational culture\, a member of the Sunbridge program faculty\, and the co-director of WECAN. A specialist in diversity\, equity\, and inclusion\, she is also a member of Alma Partners and an active committee member and workshop presenter for AWSNA and WECAN. Meggan’s teaching experience includes serving on the faculty of the Brooklyn Waldorf School from 2009-2020\, where she led parent-and-child and kindergarten classes and was active on the Faculty Council. Prior to joining BWS\, she taught kindergarten at the Olympia Waldorf School and parent-and-child and nursery classes at the New Amsterdam School. Meggan earned her undergraduate degree in health sciences from The Evergreen State College\, her MEd in curriculum and instruction with a concentration in Waldorf education from SUNY Empire State\, and her certificate in Waldorf early childhood education from Sunbridge.\n \n\n\n \nElizabeth Hall is a longtime member of the Sunbridge Elementary Teacher Education program faculty and also teaches anthroposophical studies in our Early Childhood program. Since 2006 she has also been a class teacher at Green Meadow Waldorf School\, where she has served on the Collegium and the Teacher Development Committee. Prior to joining the Green Meadow faculty\, Liz was a class teacher and lower school chair at the Waldorf School of Baltimore. She holds a BA from Earlham College\, where she double-majored in English and Spanish and minored in Art History; an MA in Education and Waldorf Certificate 1-8 from Antioch New England Graduate School; NH certification 1-6; and a Certificate of Curative Education from Camphill Special Schools\, Inc. \n\nPrevious Waldorf Weekend participants had this to say: \n~ The weekend has been wonderful. The information was communicated in a clear way\, and I feel like I have a much deeper understanding of what it means to look at the world through the Waldorf lens.\n~ It was excellent. The instructors were extremely knowledgeable.\n~ The weekend was outstanding! I was deeply inspired\, both as a teacher and as a human being.\n~ Highly informed\, warm-hearted facilitators with a deep concern for the group’s understanding and experience.\n~ This was one of the single most wonderful weekends in my life. I came with the intention of learning more about Waldorf education. I am leaving with a feeling of a shifting of my soul.\n~ This was a wonderful workshop\, and I highly recommend that everyone from teachers to parents take interest and reap the benefits. \n\n\n  \nSchedule \nFriday\, January 23: Check-in registration takes place from 6:30pm-6:50pm.
