SUMMARY:Singing and Dancing Together in Grades 1-6: Musical Activities for Your Class
DESCRIPTION:Professional development for Waldorf class\, music\, and movement teachers and homeschool parents \nThis workshop will have you singing and dancing through the grades 1-6 curricula all weekend long\, as you learn and practice musical activities to bring to your students. Discover how to enliven your morning circle time with singing games that build community and coordination and bring joyful movement to your class\, and how to use these singing games to enhance your class plays and deepen the experience of your geography and history blocks. \nIn addition to American folk music\, the songs and dances you’ll learn will offer your students a breadth of diverse cultural riches\, brought to you by a teacher who has done extensive research into dances of many cultures. These activities can bring new depth and life to your teaching in a way that only music and movement can! \nTogether we’ll address child development questions and ways to work with the curriculum as you use these activities to support your work in the classroom. You’ll come away with copies of all of the songs and resources for finding more. \nRecording devices are welcome; videos will require consent of the group. \nInstructor \nJana Hawley directs Sunbridge’s Elementary Teacher Education program and specialized intensives in Elementary Music and Grades 1-12 World Language teaching.
