This course introduces practitioners and parents to the unfolding world of infants and toddlers through insights based on the anthroposophical picture of the human being and the teachings of the renowned Pikler Institute. Find out how newborns begin to experience the world after birth, how they form important relationships, and how children through age three learn to move. Discover new approaches toward childcare through discussions, Spacial Dynamics, and your own physical experience of moving like a young child. This look at child development from a physical, social, and spiritual perspective will enhance a lifetime of learning and working with young children.
Instructor Susan Weber is Director of Sophia’s Hearth Family Center, where she directs the “The Child in the First Three Years” training program and leads “Joyful Beginnings” parent-infant playgroups. Susan has completed advanced training at the Pickler Institute in Budapest, Hungary and has many years experience as a Waldorf early childhood teacher and adult educator.
Instructor Jane Swain is Associate Director of Sophia’s Hearth Family Center’s early childhood training program. A pediatric physical therapist and graduate of Level III training in Spacial Dynamics, Jane is certified in Sensory Integration Praxis testing and is certified by the New Hampshire Child Development Bureau as an Early Childhood Master Professional.
WEEKLY SCHEDULE
Sunday:Â Registration begins at 5pm. Class begins at 7pm.
Monday-Thursday:Â Classes begin each day between 8-8:30am and run through 5:30-6pm. Break times and time for lunch are provided. Each day includes a balanced mix of content-based work, artistic work, and discussions. Some courses have evening sessions, and there are evening cultural and social events offered each week.
Friday:Â Classes end at lunchtime.
