Join us for a hands-on immersion into the activities and pedagogy of the Waldorf first grade. Discover the gesture and rhythm of the year, participate in child study discussions, and acquire much practical information. We’ll discuss approaches to teaching writing, reading, and arithmetic and will create and share morning circle activities of songs, poems, stories, and form drawings. You’ll learn how to paint with children, and will receive helpful suggestions for creating blackboard drawings. An hour each day will be devoted to teacher-facilitated discussion groups, targeted to both new and experienced teachers, on topics drawn from the teachings of Rudolf Steiner and relevant to the participants.
