Join us for a hands-on immersion into the activities and pedagogy of the “legendary” Waldorf second grade. Discover the gesture and rhythm of the year, participate in child study discussions, and acquire much practical information. We’ll cover curriculum topics such as mathematics, animal fables, saintly stories and legends, and form drawing. You’ll also have ample opportunity for exploring artistic activity, including movement, and learning how to create imaginative pictures. An hour each day will be devoted to teacher-facilitated discussion groups, targeted to both new and experienced teachers, on topics drawn from the teachings of Rudolf Steiner and relevant to the participants.
Instructor Meredith Markow currently teaches second grade at Lake Champlain Waldorf School (VT), where she previously completed two class cycles. Meredith has been a member of the Lake Champlain faculty since 1993.
