PATHWAYS TO WALDORF

In Waldorf education, it is said that the teacher is the curriculum. From helping very young children discover the world and learn what it means to be human, to introducing and guiding formal academic learning and expanding forces of imagination, to deepening intellectual development and the ability to exercise discernment, judgment, and critical thinking, the Waldorf teacher plays a key role at every stage and grade. And when teachers bring unique sets of individual perspectives and circumstances to their work, the student’s educational experience is further enriched.
 
Tasked with broadening the representation of Waldorf teachers, Sunbridge’s newest scholarship, Pathways to Waldorf, provides financial assistance to help individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures prepare to become credentialed Waldorf educators and leaders. 
 
This scholarship is intended primarily for Sunbridge students who are:
 

  • Currently working in Waldorf schools, or

  • Parents or caregivers of Waldorf students, or

  • Waldorf school alumni
     

and who are in need of financial support to attend Sunbridge. We are looking for individuals whose cultural heritage and life experiences bring unique perspectives and gifts to Waldorf students.

Committee Activities

Through an application process, the Pathways to Waldorf Scholarship Fund Committee provides scholarship awards to qualifying students enrolled in Sunbridge’s Early Childhood, Elementary, and High School Teacher Education programs.

Scholarship Application

Candidates for a Sunbridge Pathways to Waldorf Fund Scholarship must:

  • Be accepted or currently enrolled in a Sunbridge Early Childhood, Elementary, or High School Teacher Education diploma program;

  • Be currently working in, or intend to work in, a Waldorf school;

  • Submit an application.
     

TO APPLY: 
Complete an online application. In your application essay, please tell us your story, including:
 

  • How your background and life experiences have shaped you to pursue becoming a Waldorf teacher

  • How you see Waldorf education in your future
     

Pathways to Waldorf Fund Scholarship applications are available October 1 - June 30 or until funds run out. The first round of awards is made in mid-March; additional awards are made on a rolling basis, based on availability of funds. Scholarship amounts are dependent on available funds. The earlier you submit your application, the better.

If you share our commitment to this vital work, we ask you to please support the Pathways to Waldorf Scholarship Fund. One-time gifts are welcomed throughout the year, while recurring monthly or quarterly contributions are especially appreciated.
