Movement and Singing in the Ellersiek Tradition: Finger Plays, Circle Games, and Music for Young Children

Sunday, June 24, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - Wednesday, June 27, 2018 @ 3:30 pm

Professional development for Waldorf teachers and parents and caretakers

Hand gesture and movement games are an essential part of a Waldorf early childhood teacher’s “tool box.” In this course, participants will immerse themselves in this delightful work originated by Wilma Ellersiek specifically to meet the needs of the young child. You will learn how to effectively engage young children and provide incarnational support through developmental movement.

Chock full of experiential activities, this course will include

• Finger plays
• Circle games
• Singing in the mood of the fifth
• Rhythmical verse

We will practice the gestures thoroughly to embody this potent work so that you are ready to begin sharing it. Spacial Dynamics will also be offered as a personal development practice to enhance awareness and presence.

Instructors

Lynn St. Pierre apprenticed with noted translator and practioner of Wilma Ellersiek’s books and work, Kundry Willwerth, and was a member of the Ellersiek working circle in Stuttgart, Germany. She presents this work to teachers and parents in workshops and classes throughout the US and Canada, Europe, Africa and India. Lynn was the founding kindergarten teacher at Applesong School in Lyons, Colorado, and is a Spacial Dynamics Level III candidate.

Heidi Sponheuer teaches this work at the teacher training center and the Whitsun Conference in Hannover, Germany. A member of the original Ellersiek working circle in Hannover, Heidi was a long-time kindergarten teacher both in the classroom and with a forest kindergarten program. She also offers private therapeutic voice and Verbeck singing lessons.
